Elias Uddin

Assistant Professor of Animal Nutrition

Dr. Elias Uddin joined UConn in Fall 2023 as a tenure-track Assistant Professor with a 60:40 Research:Teaching split appointment. Before coming to UConn, Dr. Uddin worked as a tenure-track Assistant Professor for 2 years in the Dairy and Food Science Department at South Dakota State University with similar Research and Teaching appointment split. Previously, Dr. Uddin completed his PhD under the guidance of Dr. Michel Wattiaux at the University of Wisconsin-Madison followed by a short postdoc at the University of California Davis under the guidance of Dr. Ermias Kebreab. Dr. Uddin started his academic journey with a BS in Animal Husbandry from Bangladesh Agricultural University and a MS in Quantitative Genetics degree jointly from Wageningen University in the Netherlands and Norwegian University of Life Sciences in Norway.

Research Interests

Dr. Uddin’s research is centered at the intersection of ruminant nutrition and life cycle assessment modeling, with the overarching goal of improving the productivity, efficiency, and environmental sustainability of ruminant production systems.
