Poonam Vinayamohan
Assistant Research Professor
After completing BVSc and AH (DVM) from India in 2015, Dr. Vinayamohan obtained her PhD in Animal Science at UConn in 2020. She pursued postdoctoral research experience for a period of two years at the College of Veterinary Medicine at The Ohio State University after which she joined as an Assistant Research Professor in The Department of Animal Science in 2023.
Research Interests
- Reducing antibiotic resistance transmission among foodborne pathogens and commensals using food-grade antimicrobials and study their mechanism of action.
- Developing strategies for controlling food-borne pathogens by targeting their virulence mechanisms across various environments.
- Identifying novel non-antibiotic strategies for reducing C. difficile infection using animal models.
