ADJUNCT INSTRUCTOR FALL 2024

The Department of Animal Science at the University of Connecticut is seeking an adjunct instructor to teach the following course in the Fall of 2024 at the Storrs Campus:

COURSE TITLE

Livestock Management - ANSC 3273/SAAS 273

FORMAT

Lecture and Lab

DESCRIPTION

(4 credits) course taught utilizing a combination of traditional lectures, experiential labs, reading and writing assignments, and facilitated discussions amongst students to engage them in building their knowledge and skills. The primary aim of this course is to increase awareness of domestic meat livestock and the industries that depend on them. The adjunct instructor will lecture on the production and management of beef cattle, sheep, and swine, and be responsible for organizing field trips to animal units on campus, working in conjunction with the Executive Program Director of the Dairy and Livestock Units. This course meets weekly on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday between 9:05 am and 9:55 am, with labs scheduled on Mondays from 1:25 pm to 3:20 pm.

Knowledge of livestock production and management and prior experience teaching at the college level is necessary to teach this course.

STIPEND FOR COURSE

$1,973/credit (Per Contract article 19.7 of the American Association of University Professors, AAUP)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

PhD or equivalence

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

MS or equivalence with previous experience teaching at the college level
