About Us

The UConn Morgan Show Team is under the direction of Ms. Lisa Nulton, UConn Horse Unit Manager.  Each show season (April – August), several Animal Science students are selected to represent UConn Morgans at various Morgan Shows throughout New England.  The students selected must have knowledge of the breed, show ring experience, be employed at the horse barn during the summer months, and have a good work ethic.

2018 Accomplishments

Rendezvous Farm Schooling Show (April 2018)

- UConn student Rebecca Mazzeferro was the Champion Schooling Jumper on UC Fire When Ready.  Coach Alena Meacham was the Champion Low Jumper on UC Pride and Joy.

Summer Kickoff Show (June 2018)

- Mr. Bennett showed UC Romeo in training level 2 driven dressage placing 4th, in training level 4 driven dressage placing 5th and was Reserve Champion for the training level carriage driving.

New England Morgan Regional Horse Show (July 2018)

- ANSC student Kira Vigue placed 5th in beginner hunter over fences and 5th in beginner hunter under saddle on UC Fire When Ready.
- Coach Alena Meacham placed 6th in low hunter over fences and 8th in low hunter under saddle on UC Price and Joy.
- Mr. Bennett showed UC Romeo in carriage driving open placing 2nd, in carriage driving reinsmanship placing 2nd, in pick your own route cones placing 5th, in progressive obstacles cones placing 4th, and in fault and out cones placing 5th.

2017 Accomplishments

Equine Affaire
- UC Romeo and Stillwell Suma represented our program and the Morgan breed in the breed demonstration and took part in teh opening ceremony for the Fantasia show.

New England Morgan Regional Horse Show (July 2017)

- Mr. Bennett showed UC Romeo in carriage pleasure driving working limit placing 2nd and in driving dressage placing 1st.

Massachusetts Morgan Horse Show (August 2017)

- Mr. Bennett showed UC Romeo in timed obstacle driving placing 1st, in fault and out prick your own route driving placing 2nd, and in driving gressage placing 4th.

2014 Accomplishments

New England Morgan Regional Horse Show (July 2014)

- Jane Griffin, ANSC undergraduate, showed UC Night Star in Low Hunter Division. They won the Reserve Champion title by placing first, second, and third in their three fence classes and placing second in the hunter under saddle class. In the Hunter Hack class, Jane and Night Star received the blue ribbon.

- Mr. Bennett with the pair, UC Valentino and UC Mastermind, placed in every class they competed in at NEMHS. They were overall champions in the Pleasure Driving Working Limit Multiples Division with a first place finish in their driven dressage test and a second place finish in Super Reinsmanship Limit. Mr. Bennett and UC Valentino also won the Reserve Champion Title in the Single Limit Driving Division by finishing first in both the Pleasure Driving Turn-Out class and the Driven Timed Obstacles.

Massachusetts Morgan Horse Show (August 2014)

   - Jane Griffin and UC Valentino placed first in the Sport Horse in Hand division.

- Mr. Bennett drove the pair, UC Valentino and UC Mastermind, and ended up placing first in Reinsmanship and progressive obstacles. They also placed second in their working class and third in a field of nine in their Driven Dressage class.

- Mr. Bennett and the pair were champions in the Multiples Limit Driving Division, Ex-Pro Carriage Driving division, and were overall champions for the Carriage Multiples Driving Division. They also brought home a Reserve Champion ribbon in the Limit Driving division.
