About
Jodie Allen is a PhD student in Dr. Abhinav Upadhyay’s lab studying the area of poultry microbiology and safety. Her primary areas of interest include reduction of pathogen dissemination in animals and on animal-derived foods using antibiotic alternatives such as phytochemicals for improving bird and human health. She is particularly interested in having a better understanding of pathogen survival in animals and humans to develop strategies to control poultry associated foodborne pathogens such as Salmonella and Campylobacter jejuni at the pre-harvest level in chickens. Besides research, Jodie enjoys swimming and sampling fine cuisines.
